In order to promote the construction of PCL Robotics Research Center and the demonstration of relevant key scientific research projects, on October 18th, 2018, the “Underwater Robot Seminar” organized by the Research and Development Department was successfully held in the Lab. The meeting was co-chaired by Mei Tao, Researcher and Assistant Director of PCL, and Zhang Aidong, Dean of the Robotics Research Institute of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Seven co-cooperative units with PCL and nineteen experts in the national underwater robot field participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, Researcher Mei Tao briefly introduced the purpose of the meeting; Zhang Aidong, head of the preparatory group of the Robotics Research Center and director of the Robotics Research Institute of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), introduced the start-up planning of the research center; ten experts attended the meeting. Ten experts gave reports respectively on their latest research progress in the field of underwater robots; the Scientific Research & Development Department conducted a comprehensive analysis of the papers, patents applied, research hotspots, and leading research units in the field. In the free communication session, experts had heated discussions and put forward many constructive opinions on the preparation of PCL Robotics Research Center, the selection of the first batch of key scientific research projects, and the construction of supporting research facilities. All participating experts expressed their willingness to actively participate in and fully support the construction of PCL Robotics Research Center and the implementation of key projects.
This seminar has extensively collected opinions and suggestions from experts in the field, and clarified the ideas for the construction of key projects of the Robotics Research Center and the Underwater Robot.
